Debo Bamtare, in pulaar one of the Senegalese national languages, means “woman as vector of development, of change”. This premise is the core of the video reportage filmed in November 2018 by H12 FILM to describe the role of women in the contemporary Senegalese society. The documentary follows an ordinary day of a young girl in a rural village in Sahel. The school education, the difficult access to health care, the family traditions, the industriousness of a community for self-support, the prospects for economic emancipation, the role of women in a changing society. The doc is enriched by interviews with rural population, women entrepreneurs, local authorities, health personnel, UN international agencies, NGOs, ministries and various associations active in the area. The project was supported by European funds and the involvement of an international cooperation network.
